Tenney Classic Series Temperature and Humidity Cycling Chambers

The Tenney Classic Series of temperature and humidity test chambers deploys environmentally friendly technology that uses CFC-free refrigerants. The time-proven mechanical refrigeration systems are available in single or cascade systems and allow for years of worry-free use.

The Classic Series temperature and humidity test chambers are available in 10, 20, 30, 40, and 64 cubic feet models, all of which are available with single or cascading refrigeration systems.

Temperature and Humidity Cycling Chamber Features

In addition to the standard features found in the Tenney temperature and humidity test chambers product family, the Classic Series features:

  • Semi hermetic refrigeration system
  • Vertical recirculation conditioning system
  • Automatic defrost for door gaskets
  • Control tolerance between ±0.3°C and ±2% RH typical after stabilization
  • Non-corroding parts on all humidity capable units
  • Low water protection

Temperature and Humidity Cycling Chamber Control Systems

The following control systems are available on the Classic series of temperature and humidity test chambers :

  • VersaTenn control system is standard equipment
  • Watlow control system on temperature only models
  • Tenney VaporFlo® humidity system

Temperature and Humidity Cycling Chamber VaporFlo®  Humidity System

The Tenney VaporFlo® humidity system operates at atmospheric pressure and is vented to prevent unwanted siphoning.

Temperature and Humidity Cycling Chamber Sensors

A platinum RTD sensor measures temperature. Humidity is measured by an electronic, capacitive sensor that requires no wet wick or water supply. The sensors provide excellent control and display accuracy with minimum maintenance.

A dry capacitance type humidity sensor is used to measure chamber relative humidity. The sensor is mounted in the head of a stainless steel probe that is 8.5” long, 0.5” diameter, and is protected by a sintered filter. The probe is mounted in the downstream air of the conditioning section.

In response to humidity levels, the sensor modifies a signal from the humidity transmitter circuit board. This signal is converted by the transmitter to a 0 to 5 Volt DC signal, representing 0 to 100 percent relative humidity, and is sent to the humidity controller / channel. The humidity transmitter is powered by a small 15 Volt AC transformer.

Temperature and Humidity Cycling Chamber Refrigeration System

The refrigeration system used on the Classic series of temperature and humidity test chambers uses non-explosive and non-toxic refrigerants that are commercially available. The semi-hermetic compressors protect against over current and thermal devices to provide long-term reliability.

All interconnecting piping is hand soldered. The inside of the tubing is purged with dry nitrogen during the soldering process to prevent oxidation.

Features include:

  • ASME certified vapor tanks
  • Vibration isolators on refrigeration lines to minimize vibration
  • Insulated and vapor sealed cold lines

Tenney Constuction Features

Construction

All models feature vapor-tight, continuously welded stainless steel interiors with structural reinforcement at all critical points.

Features include:

  • Continuously welded through-wall ports
  • Fiberglass and polyurethane insulation around the chamber
  • Minimal thermal transfer

Sensors

Sensors provide accurate control and display with minimum maintenance.

Features include:

  • Platinum Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) sensor to measure temperature
  • Electronic capacitive sensor to measure humidity
  • No wet wick or water supply required

Doors

The chambers are continuously welded to ensure the chamber maintains atmospheric integrity. All doors are equipped with double gaskets that trap air and insulate the chamber. An energy efficient system circulates hot gas from the refrigeration system to provide automatic defrost for the door gaskets, which ensures pliable and long lasting gaskets.

Conditioning System

Uniform conditions are assured through the use of a vertical recirculation conditioning stream. The system draws air through the bottom of the workspace, conditions it as required, and then discharges the air through a plenum at ceiling level.
